<h2>Welcome to Team Roper!</h2><p><strong>My name is Kristina Roper, and I am running for Congress because the San Joaquin Valley deserves a representative who actually sees the people here, listens to them, and fights for them.</strong></p><p><strong>I have spent 35 years living, working, and raising my family in the Valley. I am a mom, a small business owner, and someone who has built her life around service. My work in archaeology and historic preservation has taken me from open fields to agency offices. I have spent my career solving problems in practical ways, not political ways.</strong></p><p><strong>Between teaching as a Professor at Fresno State and serving two terms on my local School Board, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful truly affordable and accessible public education can be. I saw students open doors that their parents never had the chance to walk through. That changed me. It showed me how investing in education builds the future of the Valley itself.</strong></p><p><strong>My late husband, David, was a Chief Scientist for the National Park Service. He taught me that service is not a title. It is a responsibility. And raising my son, Aleksander, who was born with Down syndrome, has taught me what real resilience looks like and what it means to fight for a better future every day.</strong></p><p><strong>That is who we are in the Valley. We push forward. We look out for one another. We make things work even when no one else is paying attention.</strong></p>

We need to invest in protecting water quality, reducing pollution, and preserving the Valley’s natural resources. Protecting our environment protects our communities and ensures future generations can continue to live and work in a healthy and thriving Valley.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Supporting Farmers and Sustainable Agriculture</span></h3><p>Farmers are stewards of the Valley’s land and play a critical role in protecting our environment. Working with farmers to strengthen conservation efforts protects the Valley’s economy, supports food production, and preserves the land for future generations.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Defending Public Lands and Protecting Access for All</span></h3><p>Public lands belong to all of us and should be protected for future generations. These lands provide space for recreation, local jobs, and preserve the natural beauty of the Valley and surrounding regions. We must protect public lands from being sold off or restricted and ensure families continue to have access to outdoor spaces. Defending public lands protects our shared resources and preserves the Valley’s natural heritage.</p>

Families should not have to struggle to afford food, housing, and basic necessities. We need policies that lower costs, strengthen supply chains, and increase competition so working families can keep more of what they earn. The economy should benefit the people who live and work here, not just the largest corporations.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Ending Trade Wars That Hurt the Valley</span></h3><p>Farmers, manufacturers, and local businesses in the Valley have been severely impacted by trade wars and import taxes that raise costs and limit access to global markets. These policies act as hidden taxes on American businesses and consumers, making it more expensive to operate and harder to compete. We need trade policies that open markets, reduce unnecessary import taxes, and allow Valley producers to compete fairly and grow. Supporting our local economy means ensuring our farmers and businesses are not caught in the middle of political trade conflicts.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Promoting Fair Competition and Ending Price Gouging</span></h3><p>Families and small businesses are paying more because large corporations have consolidated power and reduced competition. When monopolies dominate markets, they raise prices, limit choices, and push out smaller competitors. We need stronger enforcement of antitrust laws to promote fair competition, prevent price gouging, and ensure markets work for consumers, workers, and local businesses.</p>

<p>We must lower the cost of living, end trade wars that hurt Valley farmers and businesses, and promote fair competition so the economy works for working families, not just large corporations.</p>

It also means standing with workers and supporting unions because strong unions help raise wages, protect working families, and ensure that economic growth benefits everyone, not just those at the top.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Invest in Our People, Not Just Our Cities</span></h3><p>For too long, talented young people have been forced to leave the Valley in search of opportunities elsewhere. We need to reverse the brain drain here by bringing federal investment back into our communities, supporting local industries, and creating pathways for people to stay, work, and raise families here. When we invest in the Valley, we invest in the future of California and the country.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Small Businesses Are the Backbone of Our Economy</span></h3><p>Small businesses create jobs, strengthen communities, and drive local growth, but too often, they face unnecessary barriers. Expanding access to capital, cutting red tape, and ensuring federal programs actually reach Valley businesses are necessary to strengthen our community. Supporting small businesses means supporting the families and communities that keep our economy moving.</p>

<p>Opportunity means supporting workers, investing in the Valley’s economy, expanding career pathways, and ensuring families and businesses can build a future right here at home.</p>

We need to strengthen restrictions on institutional investors purchasing single-family homes, protect opportunities for first-time buyers, and ensure housing policies prioritize families, not corporate profits. Housing should be a pathway to stability and opportunity, not a profit source for Wall Street.</p>

We need an immigration system that restores stability and reduces unnecessary disruption to families and communities. Enforcement must remain focused on genuine public safety threats, including traffickers, smugglers, and violent offenders, while ensuring families and workers who have built their lives here are treated with fairness and dignity.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Strengthening the Valley Workforce and Economy</span></h3><p>The Valley’s economy depends on a stable and reliable workforce. Farms, small businesses, and local employers are struggling with labor shortages because outdated visa programs and long delays make it harder to retain and hire employees. Modernizing workforce visa programs reduces processing times and creates clear pathways so employers can hire legally and workers can contribute safely. A stronger system supports local businesses, protects workers, and helps ensure the Valley’s economy can grow and compete.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Supporting Local Law Enforcement and Community Stability</span></h3><p>Public safety depends on strong local law enforcement and trust between officers and the communities they serve. Local departments should be able to focus on protecting neighborhoods, responding to emergencies, and preventing crime, not carrying out federal immigration enforcement mandates that pull them away from their core mission. Protecting local control allows law enforcement to focus on public safety, strengthens community trust, and ensures residents feel safe to count on first responders when it matters most.</p>

We need to lower the cost of prescription drugs, increase transparency in pricing, and hold pharmaceutical companies accountable for price increases that put profits ahead of patients. Healthcare should be affordable and accessible for every family.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Expanding Access to Care in the Valley</span></h3><p>Many communities in the Valley face physician shortages and limited access to hospitals and specialists. Families should not have to drive hours to receive basic care. Workforce training strengthens the Valley’s economy, creates opportunities, and ensures students possess the tools necessary to build successful careers close to home.</p><h3><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Making College Affordable and Keeping Valley Talent Local</span></h3><p>Too many students leave the Valley to pursue their education and never return because of limited opportunities and rising costs. Higher education should be affordable and accessible so students can build their futures without taking on overwhelming debt. Investing in educational opportunities keep talented students in the Valley, strengthens our workforce, and ensures our communities continue to grow and thrive.</p>

Endless wars and foreign interventions have cost thousands of lives and countless resources while creating instability abroad and at home. A clear, disciplined national security strategy protects American sovereignty, supports our service members, and ensures our military remains focused on defending our nation.</p>
