Roper's Take on:

Immigration

Preserving Peace in Our Communities

Families in the Valley deserve to live in peaceful, stable communities where they feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. Fear and uncertainty make it harder for families to live their daily lives, for children to focus in school, and for communities to remain strong and connected. We need an immigration system that restores stability and reduces unnecessary disruption to families and communities. Enforcement must remain focused on genuine public safety threats, including traffickers, smugglers, and violent offenders, while ensuring families and workers who have built their lives here are treated with fairness and dignity.

Strengthening the Valley Workforce and Economy

The Valley’s economy depends on a stable and reliable workforce. Farms, small businesses, and local employers are struggling with labor shortages because outdated visa programs and long delays make it harder to retain and hire employees. Modernizing workforce visa programs reduces processing times and creates clear pathways so employers can hire legally and workers can contribute safely. A stronger system supports local businesses, protects workers, and helps ensure the Valley’s economy can grow and compete.

Supporting Local Law Enforcement and Community Stability

Public safety depends on strong local law enforcement and trust between officers and the communities they serve. Local departments should be able to focus on protecting neighborhoods, responding to emergencies, and preventing crime, not carrying out federal immigration enforcement mandates that pull them away from their core mission. Protecting local control allows law enforcement to focus on public safety, strengthens community trust, and ensures residents feel safe to count on first responders when it matters most.
